Movement

Boy o boy is Dany moving all over the place. I have begun to notice her routine. It is always at the same time each day that she is awake and playing. Most noticeably at 11:00 at night when I am trying to go to sleep. There has also been a couple of times that I can feel her fists of furry on the outside. The other day I was sitting at my desk with my arms crossed over the top of my belly and apparently she thought I was encroaching on her space because she heaved quite the punch into my arm. Andrew is already fearful that she is going to be exactly like me:) One strong willed child on the way!

We begun to paint the nursery. I will post pictures when it is done. In the meantime here is another little project that I made for the Nursery. These are going to hang above the rocking chair in the corner of the room.
Also I just had my first order on etsy for the mobile I made!

Meal Planning

***This will probably sound like one of those "I was paid to write this" posts, but I wasn't***

I suck at meal planning. Every aspect of it.
Planning ahead.
Deciding what to make.
Making a shopping list.

I am one of those people where if you put it in front of me generally I will eat it. With the exception of spinach and mushrooms. But when I am looking at recipes deciding what to cook i tend to lean more toward "kid" food. Or not-so-healthy food.

So Andrew and I decided to try out emeals.  For $21 you get 3 months of meal plans, 7days a week. The plan includes what to cook and how to make it. It also includes a shopping list for the whole week of meals. (There are many different food plans you can sign up for, like low fat, gluten free, vegetarian...)

Well even with someone telling me what to cook I do not have time to cook every night of the week. Which is why we decided to just do a 3 month plan for now. That way as the plans become available each week I can download them and save them. Then I look at the calendar and figure out which days I can cook and schedule them in that way. So far I am figuring that one week will actually last us about 2 weeks.

Looking at our first week's plan the meals are SUPER easy to make, nothing too complicated, yet they are healthy too.  Also pretty economical depending on where you shop. I sent Andrew a pretty long shopping list for everything we would need for that week's plan and he went to Winco and picked up everything for about $35

I am going to start the plan on Monday with Little Smokie Mini's and Sweet Potato fries, So I will let you know how it goes.

First Project

Here is my first girlie project for the nursery. This will go above the crib.

I also started an Etsy shop (per Andrew's suggestion) it is kind of basic right now, but we will see what happens...http://www.etsy.com/shop/angiemckay1

The Big Announcement...In 3 Parts

Since I know the main reason you are here is not to hear about HOW we told all our friends and family but WHAT we told them. So I will get that out of the way right now

IT'S A GIRL!

Now on to the stories. Warning, this could be a long post.

Part 1: The Community group

Andrew and I had the ultrasound on April 4th. The Sunday before that we were talking with our community group about how we were not sure how Andrew and I wanted to find out. So they asked if they could put together the surprise for us. We thought that sounded like a great idea.
So after our ultrasound, the tech printed out the pictures of AJ that showed gender and put them in a sealed envelope. The enveloped was then passed on to Carly and Brigette who made cupcakes with colored filling.
That night the group came over and decorated the house in blue and pink. Then we all bit into the cupcakes at the same time to see that they were PINK.

Part 2: The McKay's

For both our families we were going to tell them when we saw them on Easter.  So I bought 2 pink Easter Eggs and then decorated them by gluing little pink and white paper flowers all over them. I don't have a picture of them but they looked kind of like this...only cuter
For the McKay's I wrapped it up in a brown paper box with some Easter grass.  We went over to their house for breakfast and church and they opened it as a family. Everyone was excited for a little girl and there will be pictures soon.

Part 3: The Colton's

Telling my family had a bit more drama than I anticipated.
Every year since I can remember we have hidden a golden egg during the hunt.  This was special because it usually had 20$ in it or something so even the adults wanted to find it. So my plan was to take the decorated pink egg and hide it inside the golden egg for the family to find. I needed to find a time to hide it when no one was around (because I knew if my sister was around she would try and peek to see where I hid it.) I got the perfect opportunity on Saturday afternoon when I was at the house by myself. I went into the back yard and hid the Egg in what I thought was a perfect spot. I then left that evening to go to the Easter service at Rolling Hills.
While I was gone Cooper, my parent's bloodhound, tracked my scent to the egg and pulled it out and proceeded to tear the golden egg and the pretty pink egg to pieces. Kelly and my Mom looked outside trying to figure out what Cooper had gotten into and when they saw the gold then the pink they put two and two together and went into crisis management mode. My mom refashioned a pink egg and had to find another golden egg to hide it inside and then re-hid it in the back yard. (BTW they did not tell me any of this until the next morning when everyone was getting ready to find their presents.)
Leave it to Cousin Hayley to find the egg and show everyone the pink egg inside.
