15 Months

I forgot to write down her Dr. stats but I think there were something like 26lbs and 32 in tall.

Dani's Words:
Mama
Daddy
Doggie
Baby
Thank you
Uh-Oh

She is also starting to mimic the sounds of words when we say them.

Every time anything bumps her head she stops what she is doing and rubs her head and says uh-oh.
One of her favorite things to do is read with Carla. Carla really is a saint for all that she puts up with from Dani. It's become a problem when Dani meets other dogs because she has no fear of them and thinks that every dog would like to be poked in the eye like her dog.

Dani has such a sweet tooth. She can spot candy from a mile away and even recognize the sound of someone opening a candy wrapper. The other day she found a small package of M&M's and I heard her coming toward me going "nom nom nom nom nom" all the way up to me and handed me the package and then waited expectantly for me to open them.

We don't normally let Dani play without a diaper on, because mama does not want to clean pee off the floor. However, the other day after her bath she refused to sit still long enough to get ready for bed, so we just gave up and let her play in her room naked for a little bit.  Well low and behold girl peed while playing. Bless her heart it totally freaked her out. She got this really concerned look on her face and said "Uh Oh." Then she came and grabbed my hand and pointed back at the spot and said "uh-oh" again.

She got her first ear infection a couple weeks ago, poor thing was miserable

Here are some more pictures form the past few months:

The Bloody Massacre

But first, One year stats:
24 lbs= 90%
31 in= 95%

My sweet Dani, I am starting to believe, does not feel pain like a normal child.
She will regularly fall off the couch or bed and be more pissed that she is no longer on the couch or bed then about the fact that she bumped her head.

At daycare she decided to go down the slide standing up. She fell bumped her face and got a bloody nose. The workers told me that she didn't get upset until they tried to hold an ice pack to her nose.

Last week, Andrew and I were sitting at the kitchen island eating dinner while Dani was playing. At one point she came running up to me, I looked down and saw that she had a red streak on her cheek that looked a lot like blood. My first thought was that Carla must be bleeding (with the colder dryer weather she has been chewing on herself more than normal) and Dani likes to give Carla hugs. So I pulled her up into my lap and saw that her hand was covered in blood, as were her pajamas. I looked closer at her hand and on her thumb was a gash that was still bleeding pretty significantly. I had a mommy freak out and Andrew got a washcloth and bandaid. At this point Dani did not start crying until we put the bandaid on her, because heaven forbid there be something on her thumb to stop the bleeding.
Once we got her all taken care of, I began looking around the house. It looked like someone had been murdered with the amount of blood on everything. The oven, the dishwasher, the floor, smeared down the wall, all over her toys. I literally followed the path she took around the house cleaning up blood.
We still have no idea what she cut herself on.

11 Mons

Yes I am behind.

Dani's 9mon stats: 21 lbs 5 oz and 29 in tall

Yesterday we went blueberry picking with Ben and Nakalan.
I went a week ago and got 6lbs of blueberries but Andrew and I decided that that was simply not enough, especially since Dani can eat her weight in Blueberries.

We had Dani in her stroller as we walked up and down the rows finding the best bushes. At some point Dani finally noticed what it was that we were picking and started screaming and twisting and wanting out of her stroller. (Warning: Bad Parent moment coming up) The best way we could get her to be happy while we continued to pick was to literally push her stroller into a bush where she could reach the blueberries on her own. She sat there, happy as a clam, picking blueberries off the bush and plopping them in her mouth.

At the farm they also had a big tractor that you can climb on. As soon as Dani got up on Andrew's lap she grabbed the steering wheel and shifter like she knew what she was doing.

A couple of weeks ago we took Dani swimming and she LOVED it. She splashed around in her floater and then I just held her in the deep end and she just totally relaxed.

And here are her school pictures:

The Beach

This last weekend was one of the nicest weekends i can remember outside of August in Oregon. So beautiful and warm.
We had planned to go to the beach with Andrew's family to celebrate Mother's day a little early, and to celebrate cinco de mayo.
The past few times we had gone to the beach with Dani it had been pretty cold, or she was sick so this was the first time she actually made it down to the sand.
She was not too sure what to make of the fact that every time she would try to pick it up, it would disappear out of her hand, and I was shocked that she never tried to put it in her mouth.

She also kind of started to crawl this weekend. She gets on to her hand and knees, but she sticks one leg straight out to the side and kind of uses that to stabilize herself and propel her forward. It still takes her awhile to get to where she wants to go, so we haven't started the baby proofing frenzy yet.

8 Month

Milestones:
  • She is rolling all over the place and will go from her stomach to a sitting postion
  • She will get up on all 4's and rock back and forth but hasn't quite made that crawling movement yet.
  • Dani will eat anything I give her. All Fruits and Veggies and even those disgusting pureed meats. She also is loving crackers.
  • Her two bottom teeth have poked through, they are not all the way in but they are through the skin. And true to form i did not even notice. She never once indicated that she was in pain. My little champ
  • Her new game is the "uh-oh" game. She will throw her toy or drop something and look at you and go "uh-oh." Andrew says that she even sounds sarcastic when she says it. Mama's little girl:)
We went camping last weekend for the first time with her. She did great, although she was not to happy about having to sleep in the bath tub.  We forgot her pack n play and the camper has a little bathtub but it was not much bigger than she is. She likes to be able to roll around in her crib so she was a little cranky.
The weather was great and it was fun to just get away for the weekend. I see many more camping trips in our near future.

Off to the beach this weekend for Cinco De Mayo/ Mother's day

6 Months

I want to be good at this blogging thing, I really do, sorry it has been so long...

6Month stats:
Weight: 18lbs 13oz 90% (they say at this point babies should be double their birth weight. Dani was 9lbs 4oz when she was born, so she is right on track)
Height: 27in 80%
Head Cir: 42.4cm 40%

Milestones:

Dani ate her first non formula food HERE
She has gotten much better at eating, and seems to enjoy it.
Her current favorites are squash, sweet potatoes, and apples with cinnamon.
She does not like carrots, pears, or plain apples.

She does not really feel the need to roll over, and has only done it a couple times (always from back to front). We try and put a toy juuust out of reach and she will reach for it and then give up after a little while and kind of decide it is not worth rolling over to get it.

She has also started getting bored playing on her back and tries to sit up. Obviously we still have to help get into the sitting position, but once she is sitting she can go for a long time without tipping over. She loves to sit and lean all the way forward to suck on her toes.

She also had her 6month pictures done by the amazing Nakalan McKay. You can see those HERE
Also in that album are the pictures I took of her having her first taste of brownie batter.

Stats:
~Weight: 16lbs 11oz - 85%
~Height: 25" - 58%
~Head Cir: 41.1cm - 52%
Dani also got her shots today. She is such a champ, she didn't even cry with the first one and then just kind of whined with the second but that was short lived.

Dani's First Christmas

First Trip to the Zoo:
Every year after Christmas we take all the little ones to the Zoo. I love the Zoo. I would go every day if I could, and am looking forward to lots of trips with Dani as she grows. Of course this year she was so excited she fell asleep halfway through the trip;)

Random other things:
Dani is queen of the silent laugh. She opens her mouth real wide in a smile and then will bury her face. The true giggles are few and far between. We might be able to get her to giggle at something and then we do it again and she just looks at us like "yeah, you just did that... Next." Andrew is definitely the best at getting her to laugh. She LOVES her Daddy. We finally got her giggling on video by driving a remote control car into her...

She is now grabbing anything she can get her hands on and then promptly begins licking it. Dani licks everything! and is always sticking out her tongue.

One of our favorite things to do is take naps snuggled up together

Love from other people:
The Doctor said that Dani is a very rare baby in how content and happy she is. The whole time we were there she just laid there talking and kicking and trying to grab his stethoscope.

The people in the nursery say that Dani is the bright spot in the Sunday mornings.

The people at daycare say that Dani is their chill easy going baby.

Of course these are all things we already knew but when someone else recognizes how awesome your baby is it makes your heart happy:)
