Meal Planning

***This will probably sound like one of those "I was paid to write this" posts, but I wasn't***

I suck at meal planning. Every aspect of it.
Planning ahead.
Deciding what to make.
Making a shopping list.

I am one of those people where if you put it in front of me generally I will eat it. With the exception of spinach and mushrooms. But when I am looking at recipes deciding what to cook i tend to lean more toward "kid" food. Or not-so-healthy food.

So Andrew and I decided to try out emeals.  For $21 you get 3 months of meal plans, 7days a week. The plan includes what to cook and how to make it. It also includes a shopping list for the whole week of meals. (There are many different food plans you can sign up for, like low fat, gluten free, vegetarian...)

Well even with someone telling me what to cook I do not have time to cook every night of the week. Which is why we decided to just do a 3 month plan for now. That way as the plans become available each week I can download them and save them. Then I look at the calendar and figure out which days I can cook and schedule them in that way. So far I am figuring that one week will actually last us about 2 weeks.

Looking at our first week's plan the meals are SUPER easy to make, nothing too complicated, yet they are healthy too.  Also pretty economical depending on where you shop. I sent Andrew a pretty long shopping list for everything we would need for that week's plan and he went to Winco and picked up everything for about $35

I am going to start the plan on Monday with Little Smokie Mini's and Sweet Potato fries, So I will let you know how it goes.

  1. My friend signed up for that and has been sending me the recipes/lists she gets. Such a great idea though I have yet to use any of them, but I keep meaning too...
Look forward to hearing how the recipes are!

  2. I need to do something like that... The hardest part for me is the planning ahead part. I really enjoy cooking... as long as I already have everything I need and don't have to go to the store.
